Pro-Life Man Stabbed at Arkansas Abortion Facility

Little Rock, AR -- An ardent pro-life advocate told police he was stabbed Saturday during an altercation with a woman outside a Little Rock abortion facility.

Attorney J. Fred Hart, 51, was treated at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center for a stab wound in his side and released Saturday. Police said Hart left the hospital before a detective could interview him.

According to police, Hart and another pro-life advocate, Jim Dawson, 70, of Vilonia were in front of the Family Health Care Clinic abortion facility

when two women pulled up in a black 1994 Chevrolet pickup.

"The passenger [in the truck] started yelling obscene words, then exited

and grabbed his sign and took off running when she fell," the police report stated. "Hart stated he bent over to pick up the sign when [the woman] stabbed him in his left side with a knife."

But detectives questioned the woman involved in the disturbance, and her

version of events differs from Hart's, a police spokesman said. "She came down on her own and told her version of events," said Lt. Eric Higgins. "She said she pulled over and got into a discussion over abortion and he threw her to the ground."

The woman told investigators that Hart was cut during the struggle.

Police haven't released the woman's name. "We're investigating the incident, but no warrants have been issued," Higgins said.

Dawson told detectives he recorded most of the attack with a video camera, and police have taken the videotape into evidence. Hart and Dawson gave detectives the license plate number from the pickup, and investigators traced it to a Sherwood, Arkansas man.

Hart did not return messages left for him Monday at his home. A spokesman for the abortion facility couldn't be reached for comment Monday on the reported altercation.

Rose Mimms, the executive director of Arkansas Right to Life, which leases the office next door to the abortion facility, said she believes Hart to be a gentle man.

( You may remember J. Fred Hart as the man who parked two Ryder trucks outside an abortion mill in Florida a few years back) -- SAY THIS PRAYER: Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe you died on the cross to take away my sins. Jesus, I ask you now to come into my heart and be my Lord and my Savior, and take away my sins. http://www.ArmyofGod.com
