And the Lord
hardened Pharaoh's heart
" ... and
the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not not let the
children of Israel go ... " Exodus 7-11
More than 1500 years ago, the Lord sent Moses to
deliver Israel out of the hand of Egypt. You might remember that God
unleashed ten plagues upon Egypt via the hand of Charleston Heston ...
er ... Moses.
In each of these ten plagues, the heart of
Pharaoh was revealed. During the first six plagues, the Bible records
that, "Pharaoh's heart grew hard" or "Pharaoh hardened his heart." On
plagues seven through ten, the Word declares, "but
the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart."
It seems that the Lord gave Pharaoh ample time
to repent, and to "let My people go" during the first six plagues.
Unfortunately, Pharaoh chose not to heed the voice of the Lord.
I can picture the Lord saying,
"Fine. You want to make it hard? I'll make it
as hard and a rock." And thus the last four plagues - God
hardened his heart.
This is where I think we're at today in America.
We obviously have a president that is godless and immoral - and everyone
knows it. He has admitted it. Yet, most of this nation (if you believe
the polls) want the whole impeachment proceeding to just go away. We are
hardening our hearts.
The question is whether it is still
We that are doing the
hardening - or whether we have gone past that - and now
God is doing the hardening
of our hearts. If the former is true, then there is still hope for
America. If the latter is true, then judgment and destruction will
certainly follow.
For sure, we live in distressing times. But what
is most distressing is that we ourselves are choosing our own
destruction by the hardening our of hearts to the sins of a godless
president (to say nothing of the unborn children that are being
slaughtered with the complicity of the church).
If the president is not removed from office by
the people of this nation, then woe to us. We bring judgment upon
ourselves.
