Hate went to war against love

Hate went to war against love.

These were the groundrules.

Love had to love at all times, but hate could do anything it wanted.

What was the result?
Hate accused love, and love said nothing.
Hate scourged love, buffeted him, put a crown of thorns on his head, and led him away to be crucified.

And love answered:
“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Who won?
